Is there coverage in the conflict zones?
Do not travel to conflict zones. Mobile infrastructure in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Luhansk oblasts is severely damaged or non-functional.
What language is needed in Ukraine?
Ukrainian is the official language and strongly preferred following the Russian invasion. Russian is understood but Ukrainian is the respectful choice for visitors.
How does the air raid alert system work?

Travel to Ukraine carries significant risks — check all current travel advisories before any planning. Data is essential for air raid alert apps (Ukraine's official air raid app is mandatory for anyone in-country) and communications during conflict conditions.
Ukraine's mobile coverage (Kyivstar, Vodafone, lifecell) covers Kyiv, Lviv (in the west — less affected by direct conflict), Odesa, Kharkiv, and main western cities. Lviv's Old Town (UNESCO) and the Lviv coffee culture district have coverage. The Carpathians (Bukovel ski resort, Synevyr Lake) have coverage in resort areas.
