Domande Frequenti
Does Yango (or any ride-hailing) work in Abidjan?
Yango (Yandex) operates in Abidjan and is the recommended ride-hailing option. It's safer and more transparent than street taxis. Requires data.
Is there coverage at the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro?
Yes — Yamoussoukro and the Basilica area have Orange 4G coverage.
Does the eSIM cover Grand-Bassam UNESCO site?
Yes — Grand-Bassam colonial town (UNESCO) on the coast east of Abidjan has reliable coverage.
Is there connectivity in Taï National Park?
No — Taï National Park interior has no coverage. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of West Africa's most remote rainforests. Download offline maps before entry.
What payment apps are useful in Côte d'Ivoire?
Orange Money is the dominant cashless payment platform. Many local businesses, taxis, and small restaurants accept Orange Money payments. International cards work at larger hotels and restaurants in Abidjan.
Is there coverage along the southwest coast surf areas?
Sassandra and main coastal towns have Orange coverage. Remote surf beaches and the Banco lagoon areas may have weaker signal.
What speeds can I expect in Abidjan's Plateau district?
Orange delivers 15–40 Mbps on 4G in central Abidjan. The business district and Zone 4 area have reliable connectivity.
Is French sufficient for communication in Côte d'Ivoire?
French is the official language and works throughout cities. Download the offline French pack. Dioula (Jula) is the main trade language — useful in markets outside Abidjan.

Reti disponibili: 4G
Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is West Africa's economic powerhouse and Orange provides solid 4G in Abidjan, the commercial capital, and main secondary cities. Abidjan is a sprawling, traffic-heavy city of over 5 million and data is essential for navigation — Google Maps has improving but incomplete coverage, while Yango (Yandex's ride-hailing service) operates here and is the recommended transport option. WhatsApp is universally used for business communication and hotel bookings.
Orange's 4G covers Abidjan, Yamoussoukro (the administrative capital and site of the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace — the world's largest church), Bouaké, San-Pédro (timber port and surf coast gateway), and main town corridors. The road between Abidjan and Grand-Bassam (a UNESCO colonial heritage town on the coast east of the city) is well covered.
The southwest coastline — including Sassandra and the surf beaches — has coverage in main towns. The mountainous west near Man and the Dan people's region has basic coverage in Man city but limited signal in the village areas and rainforest. Taï National Park, a UNESCO site and one of West Africa's last intact lowland rainforests, has no coverage inside the park boundaries.
Côte d'Ivoire uses the West African CFA franc (XOF) — same as Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, and others. Orange Money is the dominant mobile payment platform and essential for local transactions.
Abidjan's Plateau commercial district and Zone 4 entertainment area have excellent coverage. The city's infamous traffic makes Yango bookings via app essential — waiting for a car is much better than haggling with street taxis.
