Häufig gestellte Fragen

Is there coverage in Ranomafana National Park?

The entrance area and ranger station have basic coverage. The forest interior trails for lemur viewing have no signal. Download park maps and wildlife identification apps before entry.

Does the eSIM cover the RN7 route south to Isalo?

Main RN7 towns (Antsirabe, Ambositra, Fianarantsoa, Ranohira) have coverage. Rural stretches between towns have gaps. Download offline maps for the full route.

Is there coverage at the Tsingy de Bemaraha?

No — the Tsingy limestone pinnacles are remote and off-grid. The nearest town (Bekopaka) has very basic coverage. All logistics must be sorted before departure from Morondava.

Does the eSIM cover Nosy Be resort island?

Hellville and main resort areas on Nosy Be have Airtel/Orange coverage. Offshore islands (Nosy Komba, Nosy Tanikely) have no coverage.

What wildlife apps are essential for Madagascar?

iNaturalist (download offline for the relevant region), Field Guide to the Birds of Madagascar (download before entry), and the Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership species guides are the standard tools.

Is Andasibe-Mantadia Park covered for indri lemur calls?

The park gates and entrance area have coverage. The forest interior trail areas may have limited signal. The indri's extraordinarily loud calls at dawn are best experienced without phone distraction anyway.

What speeds can I expect in Antananarivo?

Airtel and Orange deliver 10–30 Mbps on 4G in central Tana. Coverage quality in the capital is reasonable.

How do I book Madagascar national park visits?

Book through Madagascar National Parks (MNP) online or via specialist operators. Most guided park visits require advance arrangement — email operators based in Tana before arrival.

eSIM Leitfaden für Madagaskar

Dein eSIM verbindet sich mit den wichtigsten Netzbetreibern in Madagaskar:

Airtel Orange

Verfügbare Netze: 4G

Madagascar is the world's fourth-largest island and one of its most biodiverse — 90% of its wildlife is found nowhere else on Earth. Airtel and Orange provide 4G in Antananarivo and main cities, with the connectivity that matters most for visiting the extraordinary parks and reserves being significantly more limited. Data is essential in Tana (the capital) for navigation and booking, but most of Madagascar's signature experiences happen in areas with minimal or no coverage.

Airtel and Orange cover Antananarivo (Tana), Toamasina (Tamatave), Mahajanga, Antsiranana (Diego Suarez), and Fianarantsoa. The RN7 road south from Tana — the country's main tourist route — has coverage in main towns including Antsirabe, Ambositra, Fianarantsoa, and Ranohira. The RN5 to the east coast has coverage in Toamasina.

Ranomafana National Park (rainforest, lemurs) has basic coverage near the ranger station entrance. Isalo National Park (sandstone canyon) has coverage in Ranohira town. Andasibe-Mantadia National Park (indri lemurs, closest major park to Tana) has coverage at the park gates. The Tsingy de Bemaraha UNESCO site (limestone pinnacles in western Madagascar) is remote and has no coverage.

Nosy Be island (the main beach resort) has Airtel/Orange coverage in Hellville and the main resort areas. The offshore islands (Nosy Komba, Nosy Tanikely) have no coverage.

Madagascar uses the ariary (MGA). The country is very affordable. Most bookings are best made through specialist operators or advance email contact.
